In traditional orienteering, participants learn how to move around unknown territory, often in a woodland or rural setting, using only a compass and map. The aim is to reach a series of checkpoints in the shortest time possible. This discipline originates in Scandinavia, and is growing in popularity in Italy.
Our version is a kind of cultural orienteering, where participants search for specific places around the city, using just an orienteering map. Our goal is to raise awareness of the enormous cultural heritage that Volterrahas to offer, including innumerable lesser-known places that bear witness to century upon century of the town’s glorious history.
