The Carline woods cover a total of 1,255 hectares and stand at an average altitude of 500 metres in the municipality of Radicondoli. In the past, these woods played a fundamental role in the local economy. The woods, despite intense human activity, has preserved much of its original characteristics as a Mediterranean hillside wood; in fact, here we can find turkey oak, downy oak, European hop-hornbeam and maple together with a thick undergrowth of hawthorn, wild privet and juniper. In the areas with greater sun exposure there are still sweet chestnut trees including some wonderful age-old species.
