Scenery straight out of the Middle Ages, beautiful rural landscapes and genuine flavors. Discover all this and more on the Vernaccia di San Gimignano Tour, which celebratesthe white Vernaccia wine that has been produced around San Gimignano since 1200. In fact, this walking tour includes a wonderful view of San Gimignano, its famous towers and surrounding countryside. The tour starts in the town, taking in its architectural wonders, before heading out into the countryside and finally ending with a typically Tuscan lunch at a local vineyard.
We set off from the center and visit some of the town’s artistic and architectural treasures, before heading outside the town walls and into the countryside to photograph some unexpectedly delightful views of olive groves and vineyards growing Sangiovese and Vernaccia grape varieties. We will be shown around an excellent local vineyard where we will taste some wines with the owner and enjoy lunch (in the open-air if possible). The Tuscan lunch menu includes an aperitivo withVernaccia di San Gimignano, followed by a glass of Chianti with a plate of local pasta, and finally a Riserva to enjoy with a cold dish of excellent locally produced meats and cheeses. The meal closes with traditional cantuccini biscuits dipped in Vin Santo.
