This majestic church stands on the top of a sloping grassy plain, between two rows of cypress trees. It was built in 1627 to replace the previous church which collapsed due to the advancing rocky cliff formations of the “Balze”. The interior is a simple single-nave structure. In front of the entrance to the oratory is an interesting sun dial designed by the local Giovanni Inghirami in 1801: light, penetrating a gnomonic hole in the small dome that spans the transept, is projected onto a meridian in white marble on the floor, thus accurately indicating 12 noon every day, all year round!
