What do real Tuscans cook? How have they managed to stay faithful to the same traditional recipes for generations? To find out this and more, come along and experience all aspects of traditional Tuscan cooking, including buying fresh produce in the market and cooking in Giulia’s kitchen. Our day begins early in the market where Giulia will guide you as you purchase fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as meat from the butcher’s – where she’s been a customer for over 30 years. Only the best produce will do and when you get home, Giulia will help you prepare a full meal, from starter to dessert.

Following your visit to the market, you will spend 3 hours cooking and creating a menu based on the produce you bought in the morning. Giulia explains the background of each recipe, what it means for her family and how it reflects local traditions. You will learn generations of Tuscan cooking secrets and prepare prevalently traditional rustic dishes. Please let us know if you would like to cook vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free dishes.

Between 2 and 4 people can participate in each cookery course, all of which are held in Jul’s Kitchen in a traditional Tuscan country house between Florence and Siena. The course can also be held in your kitchen on request and can be in Italian or English. The maximum number of participants is 10, although more people can come along for the lunch or dinner that follows the lesson.

The total experience lasts 6 hours and courses can be booked all year round.
